About Jack Tran

Immigrant Life

It’s rare for a person to know where he was when they were only 2 years old, but that doesn’t literally mean that they remember everything because they can always ask people around them, especially family members. So, Jack Tran came from a not so rich family, to be specific, they’re boat refugees from Vietnam.

Jack Tran

He’s the only one who had the chance to go to college in the family but during his first trial, he was faced with depression or the thing we call the “teenager blues”. That time, he really didn’t know what to do with his life so he decided to drop out of college and tried signing up for the military and enlisted in the navy.

Military and Job Hunting

Jack was accepted in the navy and got assigned in the IT department. That was the time where he realized his interest in computers even though he has no skills in handling one. A new venture for him indeed. Joining the military opens his perspective especially on work ethics (just like how they are strict on following schedules and the likes).

He believes that being in just one place will leave a person stagnant. Jack wants more for his life, so he quitted the military after 3 years of service and came back to attending college for the second time around. He took coding classes, became engrossed with it and stuck with it until he graduated.

Jack Tran called the phase where he once was the “Cycle of Doom” – went to college for 4 years, graduated, applied to numerous job interviews only to be treated with cold shoulders by the HRs when he tried following up his results. Another example of a person who is skeptical of finishing one’s studies only to find out the cruelty of the real and corporate world. At least he finished his, unlike Brook of high-ticket dropshipping.

Data Engineers

They are professionals who design, develop, and manage the architecture of data systems and infrastructure. Essentially, they build the foundation that allows organizations to gather, process, and analyze large volumes of data for various purposes.

Their responsibilities often include constructing data pipelines, which are pathways for data to flow from one system to another. This involves collecting, storing, and transforming raw data into a format that can be easily analyzed. Data engineers work closely with databases, ensuring that information is organized efficiently and can be accessed when needed.

Perks of Being A Data Engineer

One of the stand out advantages of being a data engineer is the opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and business, translating raw data to valuable insights. The constantly evolving nature of data engineering ensures a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment, where problem-solving skills are put to the test regularly.

In addition, the demand for skilled data engineers is soaring, leading to competitive salaries and ample career growth opportunities. The sense of accomplishment derived from building robust data infrastructure and contributing to the foundation of data-driven decision-making adds an extra layer of job satisfaction.

The Program is For

This is for you if:

  • You want a better job opportunity as a data engineer
  • You want to be a highly paid data engineer, not just a “good” data engineer.
  • You’re applying online for companies, only to get treated a cold shoulder
  • You’re creating custom applications only to never hear anything from hiring managers.
  • You don’t know how to bridge the gap between where you are and how to get a job offer
  • You don’t have the discipline to code consistently or teach yourself on your own
  • You’re bored by the work you do and the tech you use

Data Engineering Accelerator Program

Data Engineering Accelerator

The old methods need you to perform all of the challenging and time-consuming tasks in order to achieve the outcomes you want. Living with the old ways makes you stay:

  • Working a job just to get by, living paycheck after paycheck
  • Working at jobs you hate, at the same time feeling unfulfilled and underappreciated
  • Wasting 4+ years going to college and at worst, not getting hired even after having a degree.

By taking the Data Engineering Accelerator program, Jack ensures you that instead of you chasing jobs, it’s the jobs that will be chasing you.  With just 3 steps, you’re ensured to get hired as a data engineer, and by a high-paying company at that.

Step 1: Learn skills necessary to do the job

Mastering the essential skills like learning programming languages, database management and data processing positions you as a valuable asset in the realm of data engineering from day one.

While focused strategy accelerates your entry into the workforce, it’s important to remain adaptable and open to continuous learning. The dynamic nature of technology means that additional skills and knowledge may become beneficial over time.

Step 2: Work on open source projects

Open source projects are software projects whose source code is made available and freely accessible to the public. It means that anyone can view, use, modify and distribute the code. The open source philosophy encourages collaboration and transparency, allowing a community of developers to contribute to and improve the software.

These are available in platforms like GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, SourceForge and the likes. You can search for projects based on your interests, skills or the programming languages you want to work with, depending on step 1. Practice makes perfect is what we always hear, right?

Step 3: Tweak your resume and interviewing skills

When it comes to your resume, tailor it for each application by highlighting relevant skills and experiences. Use quantifiable achievements to showcase your impact in previous roles. Even if you don’t have work experience, you can use the open source projects that you use where you’ve put your personal touch to. They will count as your achievements (adding features, optimized to run it more faster and smoother, and the likes).

In terms of interviewing skills, the only thing that you need to do is look for the most common questions during an interview and practice what you wanted to say to answer those. Always answer with confidence and integrity, showcasing skill sets and knowledge that you can use to overcome those questions/challenges.

In-depth information about these steps and other perks are available in the Data Engineering Accelerator program that Jack offers. It costs only $9.97 for the reason that he wants this program to be accessible to many people out there. It also includes a Data Engineer Salary Guide and Data Engineering Roadmap.

Guild of Coders

Guild of Coders

Jack Tran also built the platform Guild of Coders, based in Seattle, Washington. It is where he finds both potential mentors that can teach and students who need to be taught in the world of programming. His guild programs include:

Tech Accelerator

The Tech Accelerator is the bundled program that takes all topics including software engineering foundations, tech apprenticeship and interview boosting. It will run for 6 months.

Software Engineering Foundations

The foundations of software engineering cover a wide range of ideas and methods that are essential to creating effective and high-quality software. During the course of two months, students will learn how to code in Python, SQL, and other data structures while receiving daily updates and weekly group calls from a mentor.

Tech Apprenticeship

Tech Apprenticeship is also a 2 month course which is split into 2 learning phases. 1st month is where you learn specialized skills for a specific role and the 2nd month is for applying those skills creating tangible applications under the guidance of an industry professional.

Interview Boosting

This is where you’ll learn how to ace the interview for coding, design and case study questions. It also teaches you how to optimize job searches. They offer mock interviews with their specialized personnel and get feedback on what to improve.

Career Mentorship

Applying for a first job is different from applying for a greater role in another company. This course is for you if you want to know how to advance your career, get a promotion or get a more exciting offer from another company.

General Mentorship and Coaching

Any queries that you have in mind, you can ask guidance from professional data engineers in the circle of the Guild of Coders.

Jack also offers 1-on-1 calls regarding tech career consultations, software engineering mock interview, or one-on-one mentoring/onboarding. No prices are indicated but we can expect that all of these programs/offers are not for free. At the very least you’ll be paying a professional fee for his services.
