Ecom Academy Reviews

Over the past 10 years, Mark Patchett have assisted hundreds of businesses in their growth journey, ranging from small family-owned shops to rapidly expanding startups such as Trouva.com and NectarSleep.com both of which, were transformed from a few daily sales to becoming the fastest-growing businesses in the UK and USA, achieving remarkable growth in just a few years.

His passion centers about understanding the science of success and learning from failures. Instead of relying on the common belief that success requires constant hard work, his approach is to refine strategies for successful businesses and analyze why some others fall short.

For him, the typical idea that entrepreneurial success involves constant hustle, teamwork, and creative thinking is not much of a mindset. Hard work is important, yes, but real scalability happens when you focus your energy and efforts within the right framework.

The Levers

Ecom Academy talks about doubling your business using E-commerce Growth without spending more. The growth engine has three main levers, and traffic is the fuel for it. These levers include:

Ecom Academy

Lever 1: Contribution Margin

Contribution margin, also known as gross margin, is the money remaining from sales after covering all variable expenses related to producing a product. When you deduct fixed expenses like rent, equipment leases, and salaries from the contribution margin, you get your net income or profit.

The goal is to increase order revenue while maintaining fixed costs at a consistent level and either keeping variable costs the same or improving the gross margin percentage. In which hey discussed:

WAYS TO INCREASE YOUR AVERAGE ORDER VALUE

  • Get new inventory that attracts a higher price – make a product research on what people are willing to pay for. Identify related products that you could stock to appeal a higher price range and look for opportunities to introduce special limited editions, improve quality with better materials or ingredients, or provide larger sizes.
  • Optimize onsite merchandising – Adjust your category listing to highlight these products with good transaction volume and use call-out labels like “most popular” or “best seller.” You can also use highlighted collections and on-site banners (side, top, bottom) to guide visitors to these specific collections.
  • Leverage channel mix dynamics –is about making informed decisions on how to allocate time, budget, and effort across various marketing and sales channels to achieve the best results for the e-commerce business.
  • Jack up the prices on your existing products – It means raising the prices of your current products online to increase revenue or profit margins. However, it’s important to think about how this might affect customer satisfaction, competition, and overall sales.
  • Offer Premium Warranties – This centers on what “add-ons” customer can get if they would be purchasing your product. This may include after sales services, extended warranties or priority support.
  • Offer Bundles – Taking advantage of two products that could go nicely together that can appeal to customers is one way to explain this.
  • Cross-selling – It is the art of suggesting other products or services that go well with what a customer is already buying. Kind of like the same with offering bundles.
  • Launch Up-selling – Involves encouraging customers to purchase a more expensive or upgraded version of a product or add-ons to increase the overall value of their purchase.
  • Leverage Post Purchase One Time Offers – It refers to the strategy of utilizing special offers or promotions presented to customers after they have made a purchase.

Lever 2: Conversion Rate

Conversion rate is deemed important in e-commerce as it shows the percentage of website visitors who make a purchase. A higher conversion rate helps boost sales in various ways such as increased in revenue,, cost-effectiveness, improved ROI, enhanced customer experience, advantage within the competition and can provide effective marketing insights.

Lever 3: Repeat Transactions

Repeat transactions are about having customer buy from the same online store more than once. This shows positive signs of customer’s loyalty and satisfaction and shows a lasting relationship between the customer and the online store. Based on their website, in order to achieve successful repeat transactions:

  • Email/Email Segmentation. The goal here is to put yourself in the customer’s mindset and consider what might appeal to them: new items, discounted products, limited inventory items, and so on. Your emails should be personalized by using information from purchases, browsing, or feedback to recommend products that are more relevant to the individual.
  • Email Automation’s concept is to set up automatic emails that correspond to typical actions before and after a purchase. For instance, sending an email with a time-sensitive offer right after someone makes a purchase can be quite effective.
  • Subscriptions/Auto re-buy normally applies for perishable products. You can actually give incentives to people who take advantage of a subscription plan making an increase in your repeat purchases.
  • Mine for related products suggests a very easy way to boost your repeat rate by considering what others products your customers would be interested that complements with what you’re offering. Take into account what they might use before, during, or after using your product.
  • Giving a welcome back offer can either be a form of discount, freebies or buy 1 get 1 deals. This will definitely have an impact since consumers love deals.

Is it worth giving a try though?

In Conclusion

Even though Ecom Academy does prove points on what you can do to sustain an online business and does provide specific calculations, I would not be recommending them. Unlike other e-commerce businesses I have reviewed, there’s not much of information can be found online about The Ecom Academy much less about its owner. There is Chintan Zalani who managed posting pipeline for them but nothing else more aside from that. On the other hand, I can find no affiliation or whatsoever between Aires Loutsaris, who is an award winning SEO consultant managing multi-million pound campaigns for global products, and the Ecom Academy.

Their Facebook account also shows that the last time they had posted was way back August of 2019. Although if you check on the reviews, you will see that there are positive ones that were posted from 2022 and just this year, last August. Doesn’t really give much of an assurance, does it? It makes me unsure if their business is still running or must have closed down for a while now. Either way, their organization lacks basic information, transparency and connections than what they claim to have.
