Business Made Simple Review

Donald Miller 1

Donald Miller tells us that there are some small businesses are making a big mistake about their promotion. That mistake is when their marketing makes it look like it’s all about themselves.

Instead, it should be about the customers. That they should communicate with them to find out about their problems, and position themselves as the solution to that problem.

And this is just an example of some of the mistakes that small businessses make. Donald says that this is due to some of them just heading out into the market without a plan or system for growth.

Thus, he created the Business Made Simple program, to give these business owners a plan for growing revenue. Read on for my Business Made Simple review.

Business Made Simple: Overview

Donald Miller 2

The Business Made Simple is an online platform that helps aspiring entrepreneurs with their business ventures. It assists entrepreneurs in developing a solid plan that they can use to grow their business.

Most small entrepreneurs just start their businesses without a stable plan. This can lead to several pitfalls, such as wasted time and money chasing ideas that can be irrelevant to the business, stalled (or even lost) revenue, and lots of lots of guessing. The end result of this is feeling constantly overwhelmed in every step of the venture.

The Business Made Simple program aims to change that in under two steps.

First, by subscribing to the program, individuals will get access to all the courses and member-exclusive webinars inside. They’ll now also be part of a thriving community which is composed of business coaches, and fellow entrepreneurs.

Second, the courses and webinars inside the program will help its students come up with a strategy they can implement to optimize key areas of their business. This can then result in entrepreneurs feeling less overwhelmed and to increase the growth potential of their small business.

The Business Made Simple platform serves as an excellent alternative to a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree course, or any other post-graduate degree course. In this regard, it’s somewhat similar to educational platforms like AltMBA, which is also marketed as an alternative to a MBA.

Keep in mind, however, that while these programs are marketed as good alternatives for a MBA degree, they still pale in comparison to a real one in terms of credentials. These programs are solely created for individuals who want to boost their knowledge of several business concepts. However, an actual MBA will give you the credentials you may need to establish your legitimacy.

Who Is Donald Miller?

Donald Miller 3

Donald “Don” Miller is a book author, public speaker, and entrepreneur who created the Business Made Simple platform. He’s well-known as the author of the best-selling book, which has the same name as this program (Business Made Simple).

He’s also the current CEO of his own marketing company called StoryBrand. As stated in one of his books, Building a StoryBrand, he introduces what he calls the “StoryBrand Framework”, a 7-part marketing framework that is inspired by the principles of storytelling.

As a book author, he’s known for writing a variety of books about business. Aside from the aforementioned Building a StoryBrand and Business Made Simple, he wrote Marketing Made Simple, which is part of the “Made Simple” series of books.

Aside from business topics, Don Miller also wrote numerous books that serve as his personal essays and reflections about faith, God, and self-discovery. In fact, his very first best-seller book, Blue Like Jazz (which also has a movie adaptation), is centered on that subject. Other books that he has written include Searching For God Knows What, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years, and his latest work, Hero on a Mission: A Path to a Meaningful Life.

He is considered by many as one of the most respected public speakers in the world. Several audiences who have attended his events noted his public speaking style, which seems to revolve around creating their own “story”. They’re challenged to “lean into their own story, creatively develop and execute the story of their team, and understand the story of their customers” to better serve them.

Overall, he has a very good reputation in the business industry, which can carry over to the Business Made Simple platform.

Don is currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife, Betsy, and their pet dog, a labrador named Lucy.

Business Made Simple’s 6-Step Plan

The core of the Business Made Simple program is what they call the six-step plan to grow your small business. They use the analogy of an airplane, where each of the parts that compose it are vital to its operation as a whole, and thus, should always be paid attention to.

Step 1: Business on a Mission

The first step deals with the subject of Leadership, which is considered to be the “Cockpit” of any business. Simply having a good Mission Statement isn’t enough. As a leader, the statement should set the foundation of guiding principles that will motivate you, and your entire team.

Step 2: StoryBrand Messaging Framework

The second step talks about Marketing, and is stated to act as the “Right Engine” of the business. It’s important that the message of your marketing campaigns is clear and concise, and aims to solve the customers’ needs so they’ll listen to you and, of course, buy your products or services.

Step 3: The Customer is the Hero

This step covers the subject of Sales, acting as the “Left Engine” for your business. Again, Don here emphasizes the power of a “story” to successfully craft a compelling pitch, and thus, bring in more sales.

Step 4: Product Optimization Made Simple

This step covers the subject of your Products, the “Wings” of your business. Specifically, how you optimize your product offerings. You can expect plenty of internet marketing strategies here as part of the subject, like SEO, lead generation, running ads, etc.

Step 5: Management and Productivity Made Simple

If a business doesn’t have a proper workflow, business owners may find themselves scrambling to keep it together. Which can lead to overfatigue. This step deals with the subject of Overhead & Operations. This is what forms the “Body” of your business.

Personally, this, I think, is the most crucial step in this program. A lot of business owners, especially newcomers, suffer from disorganized workflow because they clearly don’t know what they should be doing, and in the end, they just “wing” it, which can be harmful to the business. This step can be helpful for business owners to make their workflow more organized, to lessen the possible chaos in running a small business.

Step 6: Small Business Cash Flow Made Simple

The final step of the course deals with the subject of Cash Flow, which is considered the “Fuel” of this business. It doesn’t matter if you’re earning a lot from your business. What matters here is how well you manage it, so that the money works for you, instead of the other way around.

Thus, this step contains lessons on how you, as a business owner, can organize your finances, with the strategy they present requiring you to use five checking accounts.

How Much Does Business Made Simple Cost?

Business Made Simple offers two payment plans.

The first plan is for individual access, and costs $275 per year.

If you wait to avail of this program for a team, it can cost $550 per year to get access for a two-man team, which increases in increments of $275 if you wish to add further access to more members of your team.

Final Thoughts: Is Business Made Simple Worth It?

Donald Miller 4

Personally, I think the Business Made Simple program is a great investment for any entrepreneur who wishes to improve their business productivity.

Don Miller’s good reputation in the business world is a big factor in the good quality of this program. His experience in the business world translates well in this program.

Furthermore, most of the feedback present on the internet about this course is quite good. Others who have taken this course stated that they learned a lot from this.

Thus, if you’re an entrepreneur, it may be worthwhile for you to join this program. However, if you’re still unsure, or if you just want to get a feel of Donald Miller’s mentorship style, it may be in your best interest if you check out his book first.
